Current Research and Development

SureGene scientists are convinced that a better understanding of the genetics and biological processes involved in mental illness will lead to better, more targeted uses for existing drugs, higher success rates for late stage clinical trials, and the identification of novel therapeutic targets. Additionally, SureGene genetic tests will provide an important additional diagnostic tool for physicians. The roles of novel genes identified by SureGene are being evaluated in a variety of mental disorders, with the long term goal of developing diagnoses based on biological mechanisms. Accordingly, we are evaluating how genetic variants in these genes might contribute to a broad spectrum of neuropsychiatric diseases, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

SureGene plans to work closely with leading clinicians to determine how to incorporate SureGene’s test into clinical practice. Using these investigative sites, SureGene hopes that enhanced standards of care can be developed that lead to greatly enhanced patient outcomes.
